FC Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, skipped the Club World Cup in the USA to hoof it back to Germany for a cheeky chat 'bout potential transfers. "Got some nitty-gritty talks to nail down, then he's outta here enjoying the European time," said fellow sporting director Christoph Freund before the German super champs' smackdown against Boca Juniors in Miami on DAZN.

Freund, ever the tight-lipped type, wouldn't dish the dirt on the tabloid gossip, like the one buzzing about Nico Williams. "Nah, we ain't touchin' those rumors. It's that time of year. Wanna move some things forward in a way that's golden for FC Bayern." When Freund was pushed for a confirmation about top-tier transfers, he played coy: "Got loads of firepower in the ranks. Gotta fit for us, and there's one or two shiny possibilities."

"A Sense of Anxiousness"

Legendary star Lothar Matthäus believes Eberl's jetting off to Deutschland suggests the transfer pressure is high in Bayern's camp. "Max Eberl bailing on the USA shows there's a tad of anxiety. For Eberl, hunting down a goal-getter is more vital than the Club World Cup."

With Florian Wirtz bailing and Williams headed to FC Barcelona, the fire's burning in Bayern's attack, according to Matthäus. Considering Mathys Tel's move to Tottenham Hotspur and Leroy Sané joining Galatasaray, Matthäus reckons:this transfer will be pretty crucial for Eberl, eyeing the search for reinforcements for Harry Kane and co. and Eberl's role in the club.

"Little Stink over Kimmich"

"To some degree," Matthäus added, "the hunt for a sharpshooter brings back memories of last year's coach hunt, complete with a bunch of rejections - but Bayern ended up bagging Kompany. Maybe it'll be the same story now."

Still reelin' from the attack side, both Eberl and Freund admitted that reinforcements are needed, stating, "Our aim is to beef up our team and bring in quality." Joshua Kimmich echoed the sentiment soon after, sharing the feeling that "we could do something 'cause Flo (Wirtz) ain't showin', Leroy (Sané) is bouncin', and Thomas (Müller) is kickin' it." For this, Kimmich copped a rap from Eberl: "Jo's still playin' - and I'm workin' behind the scenes."
