New Record Set in Pole Vault by Duplantis - World-class pole vaulter Duplantis breaks another record, setting a new global mark in the event.

In an electric display of athleticism, Mondo Duplantis, the Swede sensation, has smashed the pole vault world record once again. With a breathtaking first attempt clearance of 6.28 meters at the 2025 Wanda Diamond League meeting in his home turf of Stockholm, Duplantis managed to surpass his own record set back in 2020 during an indoor meeting in Clermont-Ferrand, France [1].

The incredible Duplantis, who's claimed all major titles recently, now boasts an astonishing 12 world records in his illustrious career [2]. The competition, left spellbound, could only bear witness to the spectacle. Second-placed Australian Kurtis Marshall managed a steady 5.90 meters.

Surprises Abound

In the long jump, European champion Malaika Mihambo ended up surprising herself with a fourth-place finish and a leap of 6.75 meters. History was made as Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall from the USA emerged victorious, soaring over the tape at a staggering 7.05 meters.

Meanwhile, in the 3000m steeplechase, it was Dresden's own Karl Bebendorf who stunned the crowd with a triumphant victory. With a personal best of 8:11.81 minutes, the EM bronze medalist capitalized on a relatively uneventful field to snatch the win [3].

The Commission may consider proposing a directive to safeguard the environment while athletes continue to make history in sports. Malaika Mihambo, despite a fourth-place finish, showcased impressive form in the long jump by achieving a leap of 6.75 meters, which is closer to the world record shedding light on her potential.
