"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?": Günther Jauch catches a couch potato at work
"Workplace jolt: Günther Jauch stirs up productive energy among lethargic staff members"
In the world of nine-to-five grind, taking a break to watch "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" might seem like a harmless tradition. But for René Langen, a marketing agency employee from Cologne, it landed him in hot water when none other than Günther Jauch himself called him out!
After lunch, during what should have been a routine workday, Langen found himself face-to-face with the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" host, thanks to a sneaky video call from his boss, Marei Stanetschek. It took Langen a moment to realize his working surroundings had suddenly morphed into the studio set.
"Hey, what's up, you bum!" Jauch opened the conversation, putting a quick stop to any illusions Langen might have had about taking a break during work hours. Apparently, his colleagues had been growing tired of him playing "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" all day, every day.
Jauch gives second chances
Fortunately, Langen's boss had a soft spot and revealed she'd secretly recorded his enthusiastic gameplay at work. Immediately, a car whisked him away to the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" studio for a special episode. Meanwhile, a contestant who had been unfairly eliminated during a previous Christmas special got another shot.
Jannik Kuhle may have wrongly been told one of his lifelines was useless during his first appearance, but this time, he was allowed a chance to prove himself worthy of the million-euro jackpot. For Kuhle, preparation was key, and he couldn't have anticipated the questions that Jauch would throw his way. But luck was on his side, and he walked away with a hefty 16,000 euros.
Tattoo claims a grand prize
Meanwhile, Kerstin Fuehrer, a dedicated fan of the show, revealed a unique mark of her dedication. For 15 years, she'd been trying to get on the show, and in September 2022, she got a tattoo of a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"-style question inked on her thigh. The question read: "Mr. Jauch, when will you finally invite me?" Jauch was impressed and awarded her 16,000 euros as a reward for her audacity.
Finally, Rene Langen got his moment in the limelight. Despite some impressive wins on the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" app, Jauch wasn't convinced that he would be capable of winning the big prize. When Langen refused to gamble during the game, Jauch quipped, "With the 'GZSZ' question at 2,000 euros, you would have been out," referring to the popular German soap opera "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten." However, with the help of a lifeline, Langen walked away with 16,000 euros of his own.
