Günther Jauch Grills Laid-Back Employee in"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Shocker

Worker slackers left stunned by Günther Jauch's bold workplace rebuke

No midday break for office worker René Langen - he's always got "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" on! But things took a turn during the show on Pentecost Monday as his boss, Marei Stanetschek, set up an unexpected video call between him and none other than RTL host Günther Jauch.

Stanetschek placed her laptop on Langen's desk, and suddenly he found himself in conversation with the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" guru. It took a moment for Langen to grasp the situation - and that was all Jauch needed to spring his surprise.

"Hey there, René," Jauch greeted. The host was disappointed to find that Langen was utilizing his work hours to watch "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" day in and day out. His colleagues at the marketing agency were growing increasingly frustrated with the constant stream of gameplay in the office.

A Second Chance for a Past Contestant

The teaser featured a clip of Langen's previous gameplay, covertly recorded at work. Unaware of the scope of the issue, Stanetschek admitted that she was left in the dark. Before Langen knew it, he was in a car and on his way to the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" studio for the special surprise episode.

Back at the studio, unsuccessful contestant Jannik Kuhle was waiting in the wings. Kuhle, who went home with only 500 euros during the Christmas special, got a second chance due to Jauch's leniency - an exception only allowed for candidates who lost everything during the show.

Kuhle had an edge over the other contestants as he could prepare specifically for his appearance in advance. However, he had his share of knowledge gaps when it came to Minecraft films and Left Party re-election strategies. Tensions heightened as Kuhle gambled it all on a crucial question.

Gaming with Pikachu

In a thrilling twist, Kuhle won over 32,000 euros by logging into the Dutch museum for the answer to the "Minecraft" question. The scare that Kuhle's family experienced during the Christmas special certainly added to the excitement of the evening.

Two lucky ladies, Lydia Lachmann and an anonymous twin sister, joined the surprise special as studio audience members. Lachmann wowed the audience with her correct answers in the first nine rounds, but Jauch made a special commendation to her daughters for nominating her - and for pushing her to participate in the show.

Jauch's Tattoo: A Lucky Charm?

Remember Kerstin Führer, the woman who's been trying to appear on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" for 15 years and got a tattoo of the show's question? Jauch was floored by Führer's bravery, giving her a real shock and a much-needed money boost with her 16,000 euros win.

This includes correctly guessing that George Clooney starred in a Broadway version of his movie "Good Night, and Good Luck," and not Morgan Freeman.

In the end, Langen took home 16,000 euros as well, declining to gamble with his chance for the main prize. Jauch reminded Langen of the importance of keeping work and play properly balanced, as former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker learned the hard way with his weakness for the TV series "Good Times, Bad Times."

"Perhaps René Langen will join Günther Jauch's list of millionaires one day, but for now, he's more of a social-media sensation among his colleagues for his constant "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" stream at work. As for celebrities, evenRene had a chance to interact with Jauch, albeit in an unexpected work setting."

"With René Langen's recent victory of 16,000 euros on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' and Kerstin Führer's long-standing dream realized with her 16,000 euros win, it seems that entertainment's allure is transforming everyday lives and even leading some to mimic their favorite stars, like getting a tattoo as a lucky charm."
