Wordle Clues (and Solution) for Wednesday, June 11, 2025

Let's dive into the Wordle game on June 11, 2025! Here's a mix of clues, tactics, and secrets, and eventually, the solution. Today's puzzle is a bit easier; I nailed it in four strokes. Beware, spoilers ahead for June 11, Wordle #1,453! Keep scrolling for some tips, hints, and, finally, the solution to today's Wordle game.

How to tackle Wordle

Wordle can be found right here on the New York Times website. A fresh puzzle goes live every day at midnight, adjusted to your local time.

Begin by guessing a five-letter word. The letters will change color if they're correct (green), not quite right yet (yellow), or nowhere to be found (gray) in comparison to the day's secret word. For more, take a look at our Wordle guide, and my advanced Wordle strategy guide. We've also gathered some information for you at the bottom of this post.

Ready for the hints? Let's roll!

Any unusual letters today?

We consider common letters as those found in the well-known phrase ETAOIN SHRDLU. (Pronounce it as "Edwin Shirdloo" for a friendly acquaintance, and it'll stick better!)

Four common letters from our mnemonic are present in today's game. One is relatively common.

Yesterday's Wordle answer

Yesterday's Wordle was relatively easy. The hint was "beach snack," and the answer contained two ordinary letters, two somewhat common letters, and one uncommon letter.

The answer to yesterday's Wordle was TAFFY.

Wordle essentials

The whole idea behind Wordle is to guess the day's secret word. When you first tackle the Wordle game, you'll see a blank grid. Your job is to make the first move: type in any five-letter word.

Now, you can use the colors that manifest to get hints about the word: Green indicates you nailed both letter and position. (For example, if you guess PARTY and the actual word is PURSE, the P and R will be green.)

  • Yellow means the letter is used somewhere in the word, but not in the specified spot. (For example, if you guessed PARTY, but the actual word is ROAST, the R, A, and T will all be yellow.)
  • Gray means it's definitely not in the solution word at all. (If you guessed PARTY and everything is gray, then the solution cannot be PURSE or ROAST.)

With these clues in mind, venture forth with guesses, aiming to land on the correct word before you run out of chances. You get six guesses, and then it's game over.

Top picks for starting Wordle

Which word should you begin with? The best options tend to have common letters, raising the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. There isn't a single "best" starting word, but the New York Times' Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these:

  • CRANE
  • TRACE
  • SLANT
  • CRATE
  • CARTE

In the meantime, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities by starting with one of these:

  • SALET
  • REAST
  • TRACE
  • CRATE
  • SLATE

Other good choices could be ARISE or ROUND. Choices such as ADIEU and AUDIO have more vowels, but it's better to emphasize consonants initially, selecting options such as RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it unfolds.

How to reign supreme at Wordle

We have a few Wordle strategy guides, which you might find useful if you're a keen player. This guide covers leveraging consonants, while this guide focuses on a strategy centered around common letters. In this advanced guide, we outline a three-pronged approach for fishing for hints and maximizing your chances of winning efficiently.

The most significant difference between a Wordle champion and a Wordle underdog is that winners utilize their guesses to gather information about the letters in the word. If you're certain that the word must end in -OUND, don't waste four guesses on MOUND, ROUND, SOUND, and HOUND; jump right to MATES instead. If the T lights up in yellow, you know the solution.

One more tip regarding strategy: the original Wordle used a list of around 2,300 solution words, but following the acquisition by the NYT, the game now has an editor who personally selects the solutions. Sometimes they can be somewhat tricky words that wouldn't have been initially chosen, and sometimes they may be topical (e.g., FEAST on Thanksgiving).

Wordle spin-offs

If you can't get enough of five-letter word games, these top Wordle alternatives, ranked by difficulty, are worthy of your time:

  • Wheeldle, which permits you to play one puzzle after another
  • Dordle and Quordle, which require solving two (Dordle) or four (Quordle) puzzles simultaneously
  • Octordle and Sedecordle, which offer eight and 16 interwoven puzzles, respectively
  • Waffle, which presents a grid of five-letter words in a scrambled state; play by rearranging the letters until you solve
  • Absurdle, which changes the solution after each guess but must remain consistent in its feedback. Deceive it into a corner, and it'll have no option but one single word left; then guess it, and secure your victory
  • Squabble, where you competitively play Wordle against other players
  • Antiwordle, where you try not to guess the day's solution. You will need to reuse any letters you guessed correctly, so the longer it takes you, the better you perform
