How I solved today's Wordle

I started with RAISE and CHANT before settling on TRIBE as a possible solution. Then, I guessed TRITE and TRIPE, and voila! TRIPE was the solution.

Yesterday's Wordle answer

Yesterday's Wordle was a moderate difficulty. The hint was "subdued, like the weather" and the answer contained four common letters and one unique letter.

A Primer on Wordle basics

The Wordle goal is to guess the day's secret word. Upon opening the game, you'll see an empty grid waiting for your moves. Your job is to start the game by inputting any five-letter word.

The colors reveal hints: Green means the letter is both correct and in the right spot. If the letter is correct but not in the right spot, it will be yellow. Any gray letters mean the letter is not in the solution word at all.

With each guess, use the colors to gather info about the letters in the answer. If you know that the word must end in "-OUND," for example, don't waste guesses on MOUND, ROUND, SOUND, and HOUND. Instead, combine those consonants and guess MARSH. If the H lights up, you've narrowed down the possibilities.

Remember, the original Wordle had an approximately 2,300 word list, but ever since the NYT purchased it, the solutions are hand-picked by an editor. Sometimes these words can be tricky or topical. For example, on Thanksgiving, they used FEAST as the solution.
