Pauline Ferrand-Prévot Claims Solo Victory in the 8th Stage of the Tour de France Femmes 2025

In a thrilling display of cycling prowess, French cyclist Pauline Ferrand-Prévot secured a solo victory in the 8th stage of the Tour de France Femmes 2025. The victory took place at the summit of the Col de la Madeleine, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.

Ferrand-Prévot, a member of Visma-Lease a bike, won her debut at the Tour de France on August 2, 2023. Her impressive performance in the 8th stage not only secured her most impressive road victory to date but also propelled her into the lead of the general classification.

The Australian rider, Sarah Gigante, finished the 8th stage in second place, 1'45" behind Ferrand-Prévot. Gigante, who hails from the AG Insurance-Soudal Team, attacked 12 kilometers from the finish in the legendary climb of the Savoyard col. Her second-place finish in the 8th stage is her best result in the race so far.

The Dutchwoman Demi Vollering, who won the Tour de France in 2023, and the reigning Polish champion Katarzyna Niewiadoma were left far behind. Ferrand-Prévot's victory is a testament to her exceptional versatility across various cycling disciplines, including mountain biking, road cycling, cyclocross, and gravel cycling.

With this win, Ferrand-Prévot also took the yellow jersey, further solidifying her position as the frontrunner in the race. The finish of the Tour de France is still scheduled to take place in Châtel.

Gigante's improved position in the general classification means she is now in a stronger position to challenge for the overall victory in the Tour de France. However, the race remains a closely contested one with several riders in contention for the final victory.

Ferrand-Prévot, at 33 years old, has taken a serious option on the final victory of the Tour de France. Her dominance in the race so far suggests that she is well on her way to achieving this goal.
