Women's Tour de France highlight reel: Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt's triumph, Demi Vollering and Katarzyna Niewiadoma's setbacks
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot Wins 2025 Tour de France Femmes
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has clinched the overall victory in the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, defending and extending her lead on the final stage. The French cyclist, a member of the Visma-Lease a bike team, secured the win with a commanding solo effort on Sunday, August 2, towards La Porte du Soleil in Châtel.
The final stage, dubbed the queen stage, was a challenging 111.9-kilometer ride between Chambéry and Saint-François Longchamps. Ferrand-Prévot attacked with about 6.7 kilometers to go and soloed to victory at the finish in Châtel Pré la Joux, finishing 20 seconds ahead of Demi Vollering. This victory marked her first-ever on the roads of the Tour de France Femmes.
Before the final stage, Ferrand-Prévot held a substantial lead of over 2 minutes 30 seconds on second-place Sarah Gigante and a 3+ minute lead on other contenders. Gigante, who was wearing the yellow jersey before the 8th stage, lost significant time on the descent of the Col de Joux Plane during the last stage and dropped to sixth overall. This allowed Vollering and Kasia Niewiadoma to move up to second and third in the final GC, respectively.
The 8th stage, which included the feared Col de la Madeleine climb, saw Ferrand-Prévot claim victory solo in the climb. Kim Le Court, who was leading the race at the time, lost the yellow jersey due to a crash in the descent of the Col du Fréne.
Ferrand-Prévot's victory was cheered on by her French supporters throughout the race. With this win, she has secured the yellow jersey in the Tour de France Femmes and made history as the first Frenchwoman to win the overall Tour de France Femmes since Jeannie Longo in 1994.
