Women's Second One-Day International between Pakistan and South Africa: Tazmin Brits' Century Secures Series Victory for RSA-Women

Pakistan entered the series with high hopes, having won all five matches in the 2025 World Cup Qualifier. However, the series against South Africa proved to be a challenging one for the Pakistani team.

The first ODI saw South Africa emerge victorious by eight wickets. Marizanne Kapp and Tasmin Brits scored centuries for South Africa, while Sidra Amin's unbeaten 121 for Pakistan went in vain. Pakistan was all out for 287 runs in 44.4 overs, losing their last seven wickets after being well-placed at 247 for three in the 38th over.

In the second ODI, South Africa clinched another win, this time by 25 runs (DLS method). Tasmin Brits once again shone, scoring an unbeaten 171 off 141 balls, and Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa's captain, scored 100 off 129 deliveries. Pakistan was struggling to keep up with the target, and they were all out for 257 runs in 44.5 overs.

The third and final ODI, to be played at the same venue on September 22, is now a dead rubber but offers vital preparation for the upcoming Women's World Cup.

The Pakistani team's batting lineup includes Muneeba Ali (wk), Omaima Sohail, Sidra Amin, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana (c), Natalia Pervaiz, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Rameen Shamim, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal. On the other hand, the South African team's playing XI consists of Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Miane Smit, Marizanne Kapp, Nondumiso Shangase, Annerie Dercksen, Karabo Meso (wk), Nadine de Klerk, Chloe Tryon, Masabata Klaas, Tumi Sekhukhune.

Tazmin Brits was named the Player of the Match for her game-changing performance in the second ODI. South Africa clinched the series 2-0, demonstrating their superiority in the series.

The toss for the 2nd Women's ODI was won by Pakistan, and they opted to bowl first. South Africa posted a 292-run total in 46 overs before rain halted play. Pakistan's Sidra Amin scored 122 off 110 balls and Natalia Pervaiz scored 73 off 60 balls during the chase.

Despite the loss, Pakistan can take pride in their performance in the qualifier and can use this series as a learning experience to improve their game ahead of the Women's World Cup. South Africa, on the other hand, can build on their momentum and continue to strive for excellence in their upcoming matches.
