Pakistan Women's Unbeaten Streak Broken by South Africa in 1st ODI

In a thrilling encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the South Africa Women's cricket team defeated the Pakistan Women's team by eight wickets in the first One Day International (ODI) of the series.

Pakistan Women, led by Fatima Sana, had an impressive unbeaten run in the 2025 World Cup Qualifier, winning all five matches. However, they could not maintain their form against the South African side.

The Pakistani team posted a respectable total of 255/4 in 50 overs, with Sidra Amin scoring an unbeaten 121 off 150 deliveries. Muneeba Ali also contributed with a composed 76.

In response, South Africa's Marizanne Kapp, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, scored an unbeaten 120. Tazmin Brits also played a crucial innings, scoring an unbeaten 101. Marizanne Kapp and Tazmin Brits' centuries helped South Africa chase down 256 with 10 balls left in the contest.

The South African team entered the series without previous wins in the 2025 World Cup Qualifier. Their victory in the first ODI marks a significant turnaround for the team.

Pakistan Women chose to bat first, and their squad for the match included Muneeba Ali, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana (captain), Natalia Pervaiz, Sidra Nawaz (wicket-keeper), Rameen Shamim, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal, Omaima Sohail, Syeda Aroob Shah, Sadaf Shamas, and Eyman Fatima.

South Africa's squad included Sune Luus, Chloe Tryon, Masabata Klaas, Nadine de Klerk, Miane Smit, Karabo Meso, Ayabonga Khaka, and others. Ayabonga Khaka took two wickets for South Africa in the match.
