GB Rowing Team Retains U23 World Championship in Women's Four for Second Consecutive Year
The GB Rowing Team has once again triumphed at the U23 World Rowing Championships, this time in the Women's Four (BW4-). The team, consisting of Maddie Greenstock, Imogen Cabot, Ellie-Kate Hutchinson, and Jessica Martin, managed to maintain the lead throughout the race and finished over three seconds ahead of Romania and New Zealand.
Ellie-Kate Hutchinson, a two-time U23 World Champion, expressed her trust in the team and their race plan, which seemed to have paid off. Jessica Martin, another two-time U23 World Champion, attributed their success to teamwork and enjoying the race.
The Women's Four event saw intense competition, with teams from Germany and the Netherlands also participating. However, the records from the championships do not specify the winners of the Women's Four event in Poznan.
Meanwhile, in the Men's category, Marcus Chute and Theo Bell finished fourth in the Men's pair (BM2-) final, missing the podium by the smallest of margins, just 0.08 seconds. William Morgan-Jones, Osian James, Isaac Thurnham, and George Lauchlan also had a close race in the Men's four (BM4-), finishing fourth, losing by 0.12 seconds to Romania.
The GB Rowing Team's victories in the Women's Four and the Women's Eight (BW8+) mark the second consecutive year they have won these titles at the U23 World Championships. The team will be aiming to retain their World Championship crowns in the upcoming races, with the finals for the Men's and Women's quadruple sculls and the Men's and Women's eights scheduled for tomorrow.
