Women's DHC Hockey Team Advances to Finals; Showdown with Men's Team Anticipated
In the upcoming German field hockey championship finals, Düsseldorf HC and Crefelder HTC, along with Rot-Weiss Köln, will clash for the coveted titles in Krefeld. In Saturday's semi-finals, the hosts CHTC triumphed over round-robin winners Hamburger Polo Club, securing a 4-2 victory in a thrilling match that captivated the 3,400 spectators in attendance. Johannes Schmitz, CHTC's coach, expressed his team's performance as outstanding, remarking on the boost they received from the energetic crowd.

Meanwhile, Rot-Weiss Köln secured a spot in the final after edging past defending champions Mannheimer HC in a penalty shootout, with Michel Struthoff scoring the decisive goal. After 60 minutes, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate, delayed for approximately an hour due to unfavorable weather conditions. The final will take place on Sunday at 14:30.
In the women's competition, Düsseldorf HC advanced to the finals following a 2-1 victory over Großflottbeker THGC, with Lisa Nolte sealing the win with a solo goal just 2 minutes and 22 seconds before the end, despite being a player down. Earlier in the contest, Friederiche Heusgen had equalized for Hamburg in the 55th minute.
Harvestehuder THC, who surprisingly defeated round-robin winners Mannheimer HC 1-0, will be Düsseldorf's final opponents on Sunday at 11:30. However, DHC's team captain Selin Oruz may miss the match due to a hand injury sustained while defending a penalty corner. Oruz, also a national player and a doctor at a Krefeld clinic, is optimistic about her participation, stating she intends to play despite the suspected broken hand.
