Women War Heroes of the Homefront: A Mural About Labor Feat on Victory Day in Omsk

Celebrating the Past: A Monumental Mural in Omsk

Marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, a grand, artistic piece is set to grace the building of the Soviet District Administration (107, Red Path Street) in Omsk. This breathtaking work will honor the tireless efforts of the Omsk citizens during the Great Patriotic War. The project, supported by Sberbank, has taken on the role of both general sponsor and creative visionary.

During the war, Omsk emerged as a true bastion of the homeland's rear: vital industries were evacuated here. Factory No 166 assembled fighter planes like the Tu-2, Yak-7, and Yak-9, while Factory No 174 manufactured legendary T-34 tanks. Women, filling in for the men who had gone off to fight, worked tirelessly at the machines, ensuring the military with equipment and ammunition.

"Preserving the memory of our ancestors' valor is every generation's duty," said Natalia Korneva, head of the Omsk branch of Sberbank. "This mural won't just beautify our city, but serve as a reminder of the extraordinary efforts the Omsk residents made to bring Victory closer. For Sberbank, it's a great honor to bring this project to life, as gratitude to those who provided us with peace is the foundation of our values."

"I wish to express my gratitude to Sberbank for this initiative," said Sergei Shhest, Mayor of Omsk. "Our city rightfully bears the title 'City of Labor Valor'. From the start of the Great Patriotic War, 103 industrial enterprises were evacuated to Omsk soil. With the help of our grandparents and grandmothers, 5,000 fighter planes Yak-7 and Yak-5, and 7,000 T-34 tanks were produced here. In total, everything needed for the front was produced in Omsk - from machinery to boots and belts. This new mural serves as a testament to the courage of countless thousands who waged war on the home front. It will provide another opportunity to say thank you."

The masterminds behind the artwork are the artists of the "Taknado" bureau and Marina Yagoda from Novosibirsk, renowned for their domestic and international projects, including the "Barryshnya s sobolyatom" mural and museum paintings in Miami. The Omsk mural will be part of a series of images in 11 cities of Siberia bearing the title "City of Labor Valor". The project is linked to the 80th anniversary of Victory.

Echoes of the Past: A Monumental Mural in Omsk

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, the administrative building of the Soviet District (107, Red Path Street) in Omsk will soon display a monumental work of art, dedicated to the labors of the Omsk people during the Great Patriotic War. This ambitious project has been made possible thanks to the support of Sberbank, which has taken on the dual role of general sponsor and creative visionary.

In wartime, Omsk became a fortress of the homeland's rear: crucial industries were relocated here. Factory No 166 built fighter planes like the Tu-2, Yak-7, and Yak-9, while Factory No 174 produced famous T-34 tanks. Women, stepping in for the men who had left for the battlefield, worked relentlessly at the machines, ensuring the army with equipment and ammunition.

"It is our duty to preserve the memory of our ancestors' valor," said Natalia Korneva, head of the Omsk branch of Sberbank. "This mural won't merely bring beauty to our city but serve as a reminder of the extraordinary efforts the Omsk people made to propel Victory closer. It's a great honor for Sberbank to bring this project to fruition, as gratitude to those who granted us peace is the cornerstone of our values."

"I would like to express my gratitude to Sberbank for this initiative," said Sergei Shhest, Mayor of Omsk. "Our city bears justly the title 'City of Labor Valor'. From the commencement of the Great Patriotic War, 103 industrial enterprises were evacuated to Omsk. With the help of our grandparents and grandmothers, 5,000 fighter planes Yak-7 and Yak-5, and 7,000 T-34 tanks were produced here. In total, everything required for the front was produced in Omsk - from machinery to boots and belts. This new mural stands as a tribute to the courage of countless thousands who waged war on the home front, offering another opportunity to express our gratitude."

The artists behind the masterpiece are the creators of the "Taknado" bureau and Marina Yagoda from Novosibirsk, recognized for their domestic and international projects, including the "Barryshnya s sobolyatom" mural and the museum paintings in Miami. The Omsk mural will be part of a series of images in 11 cities of Siberia known as 'City of Labor Valor'. The project is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory.
