Women from Pakistan triumph in the third T20I against Ireland
In the third T20I of the series between Ireland and Pakistan, it was Muneeba Ali who stole the show. The Pakistani batter scored an unbeaten century, her second in T20I cricket, helping her team secure an eight-wicket victory and a 2-1 series win.
Ireland started off strongly, with Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast sharing a 50-run opening partnership. Hunter scored 29 runs off 33 deliveries, including three boundaries and a six, while Prendergast remained unbeaten on 64 off 46 balls, striking eight boundaries. However, the Irish innings eventually ended on a competitive total of 155-4 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Pakistan's openers Aliya Riaz and Muneeba Ali put on a formidable 101-run partnership. Riaz contributed 39 runs, including five boundaries, before being dismissed. But it was Muneeba Ali who continued her dominance, scoring her second T20I century off just 68 balls. Her innings included 14 boundaries and a six, demonstrating her prowess with the bat.
The Pakistani bowling unit also performed admirably, with Fatima Sana, Sadia Iqbal, Waheeda Akhtar, and Rameen Shamim each claiming one wicket for their team. Ava Canning and Lara McBride responded for Ireland, claiming one wicket each during the run chase.
Despite losing the final match, Ireland can take pride in their series victory, having won two out of the three matches against a strong Pakistani team. The series win marks a significant achievement for Irish women's cricket, showcasing their growing strength and competitiveness on the international stage.
