Let's dive into the thrilling world of German field hockey as we witness the Düsseldorf HC ladies and Crefeld HTC and Rot-Weiss Köln men progressing to the finals of the German championships in Krefeld. The hometown heroics were on full display on Saturday, as they won their semi-final 4-2 against Hamburg Polo Club.

The victory was powered by a blistering offensive performance and an electric atmosphere that undoubtedly helped pump up the players. In the words of CHTC coach Johannes Schmitz, "We played bloody fantastic hockey!" His squad had not graced the finals since securing the title back in 2006.

The decisive goals came from Phillip Jansen (55th minute) and Lucas Bachmann (57th) in front of 3,400 spectators. Hamburg Polo Club initially narrowed the gap through Masi Pfandt (9th) and Lachlan Sharp (28th), but it was not enough to prevent Krefeld's victory.

Meanwhile, the defending champion Mannheimer HC faced a tough challenge against Cologne, eventually losing 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Michel Struthoff's winning goal put Cologne through to the final, despite the match being locked at 1-1 after 60 minutes. The game was delayed for approximately an hour due to the weather conditions. The Sunday final is scheduled for 14:30.

Defending champions among the ladies, Düsseldorf, had a close call against Großflottbeker THGC, winning 2-1. Lisa Nolte sealed the victory with a fantastic individual goal just 2 minutes and 22 seconds before the end, capitalizing on the numerical inferiority. Friederick Heusgen (55th) earlier equalized Hamburg's lead.

DHC's playmaker Selin Oruz picked up an injury while defending a penalty corner and would need to undergo a hospital examination to assess the extent of the damage. She expressed her determination to take the field, stating, "I think it's broken. I'll now go to the hospital and ask how they can help me. I want to play!"

The opposition in the Sunday final, scheduled for 11:30, will be Harvestehuder THC, who upset main round winner Mannheimer HC 1-0 in the semis. Stay tuned for more updates on this nail-biting championship!
