National player Lisa Nolte scored the winning goal minutes before the end, effectively playing one-on-one. "I just felt the ball coming to me. I wasn't planning to score that way, but I went for it and made it happen," said Nolte. Earlier, Friederike Heusgen (55th) had equalized Hamburg's lead.
With the final approaching on Sunday at 11:30, the DHC are fretting over their captain Selin Oruz, who injured her hand while defending a penalty corner. "I think it's broken. I'm heading to the hospital now to find out what they can do for me. I want to play," said the national player, who also practices medicine at the Krefeld clinic.
Meanwhile, Harvestehuder THC has clinched a surprising 1:0 victory over round-robin winner Mannheimer HC, guaranteeing their presence in the women's final set to kick off at 14:30 on Sunday.
