Gear up, soccer fans! The RB Leipzig women's team is revving up for their third season in the Bundesliga, and things are about to get interesting. Head coach Jonas Stephan welcomed eleven new faces to their training ground in the "Egidius Braun" sports school, situated in Leipzig's northeastern zone, Abtnaundorf.
In a gathering that included sporting director Marcel Schäfer and sporting director Sebastian Schuppan, the team focused on crafting a possession-based game plan. Talking about the fresh team dynamic, Stephan shared, "It was heartwarming to see the familiar players again, but the new blood infused us with a sense of energy that's invigorating."
Their first test match is set for July 12th.
For the initial two weeks, training will primarily consist of individual sessions, with double units coming into play from the following week. Last season, Leipzig was among the three most running teams in the league. Now, the aim is crystal clear: make the new squad "one of the most sprinting teams."
Time's a-tickin', and the first test match against Slask Wrocław is just five days away. A duel with VfL Wolfsburg follows on July 17th, with three more test matches set against Sparta Prague (August 3rd), Bundesliga newcomers Hamburger SV (August 16th), and Slavia Prague (August 9th) at home.
Come August 11th, the team will set off to Markt Rieden, Upper Palatinate, for a week-long training camp. The league kicks off on the weekend of September 6th to 8th.
