Woman under accusation for allegedly charring an infant girl using a hairdryer within her Scottish residence.
In Scotland, a trial is set to take place in July 2026 at the High Court in Aberdeen, where Courtney Gartshore, also known as Courtney McCready, will stand accused of the tragic death of her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia Rose. The incident occurred on September 2023 at a home in Peterhead[1].
The prosecution claims that Gartshore wilfully neglected Dahlia Rose and another child on the day leading up to the tragedy. It is alleged that she subjected her baby daughter to significant and sustained heat from a hairdryer, causing injuries so severe that Dahlia Rose tragically passed away[2].
Furthermore, Gartshore is accused of being under the influence of drugs, including cocaine and the class B stimulant mephedrone, at the time of the incident. It is also alleged that she drank alcohol excessively and co-slept with the baby while intoxicated[3].
The youngsters were reportedly left in unsanitary conditions, with dirty nappies, spoiled food, and alcohol littering the property[4]. Gartshore's lawyer, Murray Macara KC, has stated that she pleads not guilty to all the charges[5].
The trial is estimated to last 10 days[6]. Gartshore, who is 27 years old, was excused from attending a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow[7]. The exact details of the charges and the evidence against Gartshore will be presented during the trial.
