Woman sexually assaulted in Palm Beach whirlpool, suspect detained by lifeguard
Hot Tub Visit Turns into Alleged Sexual Assault for Woman at Steiner Spa
What was meant to be a relaxing soak in the warm waters of a whirlpool turned into a distressing ordeal for a visitor at the Palm Beach leisure pool in Steiner late Friday evening. Thanks to the woman's quick response and the swift intervention of staff, police were able to apprehend a suspect at the scene.
According to authorities, the woman was in one of the spa's whirlpools when another guest entered the water. The man reportedly moved close to her and, based on current investigative findings, inappropriately touched her breast.
The victim immediately left the pool and alerted the supervising staff. Her prompt report proved crucial: a lifeguard acted without hesitation, as the alleged assailant was already attempting to leave the area quickly. The employee pursued the man, restrained him, and held him until officers from the Steiner Police Station arrived.
Police took the 51-year-old German man into preliminary custody at the pool. At the station, standard procedures for such offenses followed. The suspect underwent a full forensic examination, during which investigators secured evidence, including a DNA sample. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation, and the man now faces charges of "sexual assault" in court.
