On April 22, terrorists unleashed a bloodbath at tourists in the picturesque Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam. The rampage left 26 innocent civilians dead.

'Assam Won't Tolerate...'

This whole scenario unfolds against the backdrop of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's repeated declarations that his administration will not tolerate any sympathetic remarks towards Pakistan in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack.

He also doubled down on his stance regarding AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam's arrest, asserting that it was warranted due to his purportedly pro-Pakistan statements.

The Assam Police, under Sarma's leadership, demonstrated a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals making statements perceived as supporting or defending Pakistan via social media platforms.

According to Sarma's recent social media post, at least 16 individuals across Assam have been detained for their seditious comments regarding the Pahalgam attack. This includes AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, who was remanded to four days of police custody by a local court in Nagaon.

Further arrests are taking place as part of the ongoing crackdown, according to Sarma.
