Woman arrested for drunk driving after hitting cyclist in Mallepally

A woman named Lavanya Manepally was arrested for drunk driving after her car struck a man riding a bike in Mallepally, Malkapur mandal. The incident led to a confrontation with locals and police before she was taken into custody.

The crash happened when Manepally, who was not alone in the vehicle, hit the cyclist and then tried to leave the scene. Villagers chased her down, blocked her car, and demanded an apology. When police arrived, she reportedly argued with them before being detained.

A breathalyzer test later confirmed she was over the legal alcohol limit. Authorities seized her car and registered a case under the Motor Vehicles Act at Kondapur police station. She was also issued a notice to attend mandatory counselling. No public statement has been made by Manepally regarding the incident.

The case remains under investigation, with charges filed against Manepally for driving under the influence. Her vehicle stays impounded, and she must comply with the counselling requirement as part of the legal process.
