Woman Accomplishes Record-Breaking 495 Marathons Spanning Germany's Territory
Joyce Huebner Embarks on Epic 495 Marathon Journey Across Germany
Joyce Huebner, a resident of Brandenburg, has embarked on an extraordinary marathon project to run through every city in Germany. Known as the "Städtetrip" (city trip) marathon project, Joyce is aiming to complete a total of 495 consecutive marathons.
The journey began in Helmstedt, Lower Saxony, and is expected to end in Berlin after approximately 494 days. So far, Joyce has run through Riesa, Grillenburg in the Tharandter Wald, Neustadt, and is currently making her way towards the Ore Mountains.
The shortest route through over 2,000 cities in Germany has been planned with the help of Google Maps. Thousands of kilometers and elevation gain are still to be covered during the journey. As part of the following day's 73rd stage, Joyce will cross the city limits of Dresden. Thousands of fellow runners joined her in Meißen on Monday, where she successfully completed another marathon.
Joyce's life partner is accompanying her on the journey, transporting luggage and equipment by car and providing refreshments every few kilometers. Due to the rigorous nature of her journey, Joyce expects to wear out over 30 pairs of shoes during this adventure.
