Stuttgart, Germany - The transfer saga surrounding striker Nick Woltemade has taken an intriguing turn, with VfB Stuttgart refusing to sell the in-demand player to Bayern Munich despite a high offer.

The financial situation at VfB Stuttgart has significantly improved over the past two years, thanks to revenues from various sources, additional investors such as Porsche, player sales, and Champions League revenues. This improved financial position has enabled the club to take a hard line on the transfer market.

VfB Stuttgart's CEO, Alexander Wehrle, has made it clear that Woltemade is their player and will play for them this season. The club set a deadline for Bayern to meet their valuation of about €75 million for Woltemade, a figure that exceeds Bayern's latest offers, which surpassed €60 million. Despite this, no agreement has been reached, and Wehrle has declared the transfer saga "closed."

Coach Sebastian Hoeneß considers Woltemade as a crucial piece of his team, reiterating that he is "part of our team" and "a very, very important piece." Woltemade's contract with Stuttgart runs until June 2028, but if he stays beyond early September 2025, there is uncertainty about a contract extension.

Bayern Munich's interest in Woltemade has been rekindled, with the vacancy in their attack created by Kingsley Coman's impending move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. However, Stuttgart has shut the door after receiving a higher offer from Munich.

Despite Stuttgart’s stance, Bayern Munich has not fully ruled out signing Woltemade in the future, with reports indicating they expect the transfer could happen in 2026, possibly delaying it rather than abandoning it.

The pressure is on both VfB and Woltemade to perform, as fan support for their tough stance may wane if Woltemade's form declines in the new season. Woltemade has reportedly reiterated his transfer wish to the VfB leadership and is behaving professionally during training.

The transfer poker regarding Woltemade is heating up again before the match between VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern in the Franz-Beckenbauer Super Cup. If fit, Woltemade is expected to start against Bayern in the upcoming match.
