"Bild": Wolfsburg Interested in FCB's Sport Director Freund - Wolfsburg’s pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Freund ends in rejection

VfL Wolfsburg, currently struggling in the Bundesliga, has expressed interest in Bayern Munich's sporting director Christoph Freund. However, Freund has no plans to leave his current role.

Wolfsburg's interest in Freund comes after a series of setbacks. They suffered a humiliating DFB-Pokal exit to Holstein Kiel and parted ways with both their sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz and head coach Paul Simonis. The club is now coached temporarily by Daniel Bauer and sits in 14th place, having lost six out of their last seven matches.

Freund, who joined Bayern Munich from RB Salzburg in 2023, has been praised for his transfer strategy alongside executive board member Max Eberl. Despite the interest from Wolfsburg, Freund has no intention of moving to the club.

VfL Wolfsburg's search for a new sporting director continues, with Christoph Freund no longer an option. The club must focus on improving their form and climbing the Bundesliga table.
