The Lowdown on Cora Zicai: Injury Concerns Threaten Her Euro Ticket

Dive right in, mate!

The young gun, Cora Zicai, all set for VfL Wolfsburg, finds herself in a sticky situation due to a nagging muscular injury. This injury has sent her scurrying back to Freiburg for some much-needed TLC. The German Football Association (DFB) has spilled the beans, and coach Christian Wück won't be announcing his 23-player squad for the Euro tournament in Switzerland (2nd to 27th July) until June 12.

Zicai, 20, won't make it for the final Nations League group game against Austria on Tuesday (20:30 CET/ARD) or the last game before the European Championship. According to Wück, her possible inclusion in the Euros depends on the success of her recovery process. Despite her absence, Wück is keeping mum about calling up a replacement player.

Thanks to a fantastic 4-0 win against the Netherlands in Bremen on Friday, the German female footballers have already sealed their spot as group winners for the fall's Nations League final four. Zicai, unfortunately, was unable to join the festivities due to "muscular complaints."
