VfL Wolfsburg loans Olsen to Glasgow Rangers - Wolfsburg loans Skov Olsen to Rangers and nears €10M deal for Japanese striker
VfL Wolfsburg is preparing for a mid-season transfer shake-up. The club has agreed to loan Danish forward Andreas Skov Olsen to Rangers until the end of the season. At the same time, they are close to signing 20-year-old Japanese striker Kento Shiogai from NEC Nijmegen for a reported €10 million.
Skov Olsen, 26, has featured 23 times for Wolfsburg this campaign, netting three goals. His temporary move to Rangers will see him play in Scotland for the rest of the season.
Shiogai’s arrival follows weeks of negotiation. NEC Nijmegen initially rejected Wolfsburg’s first offer but later accepted the €10 million release clause. The young striker has impressed in the Eredivisie, scoring seven goals as a substitute this term. NEC signed Shiogai from Japan just 18 months ago. His performances caught Wolfsburg’s attention, leading to the club triggering his release. The transfer is expected to complete shortly, despite NEC’s earlier hesitation.
Skov Olsen’s loan to Rangers frees up space in Wolfsburg’s attack. Meanwhile, Shiogai’s arrival adds a promising young talent to the squad. The club will now focus on finalising the deal before the winter window closes.
