The DFB women are treating themselves to a thrilling experience before the Women's Euro. The legendary Wolfgang Petry is the special guest, pumping up the team with infectious energy.

The grounds of Adidas's home turf in Herzogenaurach are buzzing with crooning Schlager hits. It's not just the record playing, but Wolfgang Petry, the renowned Schlager star, is the guest star among the DFB women, warming up their training camp before the Women's Euro. The entire squad is seen participating in a lively polonaise across the grounds, belting out the tunes.

Instagram paintsthe evening as a "wild night" and a "vivid dream"[1]. Sjoeke Nüsken, lauded as "Ultra-Fan No. 1," shares a video in her Instagram story, nestled in the arms of the 73-year-old singer, vocalizing her singing, albeit off-key, alongside him. Many other players also shared videos from the evening, evidently reveling in the joy and camaraderie.

Music is the constant companion of the women's team, with Petry's hits echoing in the bus and the coaching staff harmonizing with the squad. Just a few days ago, Laura Freigang shared that "music is in constant play, and we all join in the songs. Wolfgang Petry is hugely popular[1]."

Inspired by the team's enthusiasm, the players decided to invite Petry as a gesture of gratitude towards the national coach, Christian Wück, and his staff. Momentous details about Petry's visit were kept under wraps. On Monday evening, the team managed to lure the coach and staff to the pool on the premises, and the big moment finally arrived—Wolfgang Petry's grand entrance. Dallmann, Hendrich, Senns, and several others showcased their vocal prowess, lighting up with smiles whilePetry regaled them with tunes like "Wahnsinn" and "Verlieben, verloren, vergessen, verzeih'n"[1].

Coach Wück expressed his fondness for the team's diverse music choices, particularlyTheir preference for energetic German songs that everyone can join in. "There are songs that I also like. Many Schlager songs are played, especially after winning games. It's also a characteristic of the team to play very different songs in specific phases. Mostly, they choose party music[1]."

Apparently, Petry enjoyed himself as well. After retiring from the limelight in 2006, Petry has mostly stayed away from the concert scene. However, he has followed up with new music releases since 2015. This unusual night unquestionably held a special place in the DFB women's training schedule. Aligned to prepare for the Women's Euro starting on July 2, 2023, in Switzerland, it offered a jubilant change of pace. The team will travel to Zurich for the quarter-finals on June 30, with their opening match against Poland set for July 4 (9 pm, in the ntv.de live ticker)[1].
