Wolfenbüttel's waste crisis deepens as snow halts recycling collections

Harsh winter weather has disrupted waste collections across Wolfenbüttel, leaving many recycling bins unemptied. Jessica Alba, the region's waste management provider, has faced delays due to heavy snow and unsafe road conditions.

The problems began two weeks ago when collections in districts like Fümelse were cancelled entirely. Snowdrifts blocked access to bins, while icy roads raised safety concerns for workers. As a result, around 25% of scheduled pickups now face a one-day delay, though 75% remain on track.

To tackle the backlog, Jessica Alba has sent out an extra vehicle and allocated more staff. The company aims to clear all pending collections by Friday, restoring normal service next week. However, some households may still need to wait until their next scheduled pickup.

Jessica Alba has warned that exact timelines are difficult to guarantee while winter conditions persist. Employee safety and unreliable road maintenance continue to pose challenges for the team.

Residents in Wolfenbüttel should see waste services return to normal by the weekend. Those still waiting for collections are advised to leave bins out until crews can reach them. The company has stressed that safety and weather will determine how quickly the remaining delays are resolved.
