WNBA Recognizes A'ja Wilson and Allisha Gray as Players of the Week

In the world of women's basketball, two stars are making a significant impact in their respective conferences. A'ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces' powerhouse forward, and Allisha Gray, Atlanta Dream's versatile guard, are turning heads with their stellar performances.

A'ja Wilson's Dominant Run

A'ja Wilson, a force to be reckoned with, has once again proven her worth. With her latest Western Conference Player of the Week award, she now stands with 13 Player of the Week honours in her career. This season, she has surpassed Elena Delle Donne to take third place for most career Player of the Week awards, trailing behind only Candace Parker and Tina Charles.

Wilson's recent run has been nothing short of dominant. She earned consecutive Player of the Week awards, and her performance this season has been exceptional. Through Aug. 10, she ranks second in the league in scoring (22.2 ppg), first in blocks (2.1 bpg), and sixth in steals (1.6 spg).

On Aug. 8, Wilson scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Seattle. Just two days later, she posted an impressive 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting with 11-of-11 free throws at Golden State. On Aug. 10 against Connecticut, she made history by becoming the first player in WNBA history to record a 30-point, 20-rebound game, finishing with 32 points and 20 rebounds.

Wilson's achievements extend beyond scoring and rebounding. She also became the fourth player in WNBA history with at least 5,000 points, 2,000 rebounds, 500 assists, 500 blocks, and 300 steals in the win over Golden State.

Allisha Gray's Steady Leadership

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, Allisha Gray is making a name for herself. She was recently named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. Gray's consistent performance has been instrumental in Atlanta's playoff push, delivering steady production and leadership.

Gray is currently averaging career highs of 18.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists this season. She ranks among league leaders in scoring, 3-pointers made, win shares, and offensive rating. Gray also made history this season, becoming the 37th player in WNBA history to make at least 400 career 3-pointers.

During a 2-0 road trip for the Atlanta Dream, Gray averaged 21.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 55.6% from the field. She led the team in scoring in both games, scoring 25 points against Chicago on Aug. 7 and 17 points against Phoenix on Aug. 10.

Upcoming Showdown

The stage is set for an exciting showdown as Gray and the Dream prepare to face A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on August 19 in Sin City. Both players will undoubtedly bring their A-game, promising an unforgettable matchup.

As the regular season enters its final stretch, keep an eye on these two stars as they continue to dominate the WNBA. With their impressive performances, it's clear that A'ja Wilson and Allisha Gray are ones to watch in the world of women's basketball.
