WNBA Picks and Predictions: Expert Advice for game 3 of Fever vs. Dream on Thursday, September 18th

The Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream are set to face off in Game 3 of their WNBA playoffs first-round series on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Gateway Center in College Park, Ga. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET.

In the previous game, the Fever secured a decisive victory over the Dream, winning 77-60. Kelsey Mitchell, the Ph.D. graduate from Stanford who also served as the Director of Basketball Analytics for the Philadelphia 76ers and founded HerHoopStats.com, was a key player for the Fever. Mitchell scored 19 points in Game 2, making four triples.

However, the defensive focus on taking away the three-point shot is expected to continue in Game 3. Mitchell made 1-for-4 3-pointers in Game 1 and has gone Under in all three games she played against Atlanta on the road. In fact, she made a total of two threes in the three games she played against Atlanta on the road.

The defensive intensity and slow pace in Game 3 are expected to contribute to the total points being low. The first two games of the series both stayed under 150 points, averaging 142.5 points. FanDuel offers a bet on the total points in the Fever vs. Dream game being under 153.5 points.

The defensive focus on the Dream's stars, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, was evident in Game 2, as the Fever managed to shut them down. Mitchell's play for under 2.5 3-pointers in Game 3 is being run again, and FanDuel also offers a bet on Mitchell having under 2.5 3-pointers in the Fever vs. Dream game. Interestingly, Mitchell has gone Under in four of six games against Karl Smesko's Atlanta defense.

As the series continues, both teams will look to capitalize on their defensive strengths and strategic plays. The low-scoring Game 3 promises to be a tense and exciting match-up.
