WNBA Leaderboard Update: A'ja Wilson and Jewell Loyd driving Las Vegas Aces' late-season resurgence

Las Vegas Aces on a 11-Game Winning Streak, Securing Playoff Spot

The Las Vegas Aces have solidified their spot in the 2025 WNBA playoffs, currently boasting a 99.9% chance of qualification according to ESPN's Basketball Power Index. The team has clinched a postseason spot and is riding an impressive 11-game winning streak, propelling them to the No. 3 seed.

Star player A'ja Wilson has been a pivotal figure in the Aces' late-season surge, contributing significantly to their momentum. Wilson has been averaging an impressive 26.1 points, 13.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks during the winning streak.

The Aces' recent success is a testament to their resilience, having risen rapidly in the playoff standings from a lower position earlier in the season. Their impressive run includes victories over top teams such as the New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury.

The Aces' first-round opponent in the playoffs would be the No. 6 seed, the Seattle Storm, with the playoff format featuring a best-of-three series in the first round. The team's current winning streak and strong form make them one of the favorites to contend for the championship this year, alongside the Minnesota Lynx (No. 1 seed) and New York Liberty (No. 2 seed).

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Lynx extended their winning streak to six games with a victory over the New York Liberty. However, the Aces handed the Lynx a 53-point defeat less than a month ago, and the Aces have not lost a game since.

The Chicago Sky, who have struggled this season, may see the return of Angel Reese soon, who has been sidelined due to a back injury. The Sky have lost four games by at least 30 points this season, more than the rest of the league combined.

The Phoenix Mercury's Alyssa Thomas recorded her fifth triple-double of the season, becoming the first player in league history to have five-plus triple-doubles in multiple seasons. The Mercury are currently in fourth place, just percentage points behind the Aces.

The Atlanta Dream have benefited from the return of Rhyne Howard, who has averaged 20 points and 4.7 assists for the team since her return from a knee injury. The Dream are currently 1 1⁄2 games behind the Aces for the No. 2 seed in the standings.

The Connecticut Sun blew a 21-point lead to the Indiana Fever, highlighting their struggles in close games this season. The Seattle Storm have also struggled, losing seven of their last eight games, with seven of those losses decided by four points or fewer.

Jewell Loyd has been a significant factor in the recent success of the Las Vegas Aces. The team's impressive run, coupled with their history of postseason success, positions them well for a deep playoff run this year.
