PV Triathlon TG Witten's Women's Team Secures German Team Championship Victory
In a thrilling display of endurance and teamwork, PV Triathlon TG Witten's women's team clinched the German Team Championship in Dresden. The team's impressive performance at the event secured their overall victory in the championship.
The race was a closely contested affair, with the final 5 kilometers of running turning into a duel between Annika Koch and Lisa Tertsch. In the end, it was Tertsch who emerged victorious, securing the win with a few seconds advantage over Koch, the defending champion of the German Individual Championship.
The team's success was built on strong performances from its members. Bianca Seregni, competing for a new club, came out of the water first after 750 meters. She was closely followed by Annika Koch, Bianca Bogen, and Merel Veltman. Seregni and Bogen put in impressive performances during the running course, with Bogen long on par with Seregni.
Annika Koch, who had aimed for a podium place before the league race, found herself in a duel during the final 5 kilometers of running. Despite her best efforts, she was unable to increase the pace during the bike race, ultimately finishing in fifth place. Bianca Bogen, a double mother and member of the team, found the audience's enthusiastic cheers during the race to be a nice encouragement.
Thomas Fehrs, the team manager, was delighted with the team's performance. He commented that the women's performance was outstanding and that it was great to see them further extend their lead at the top of the table. Fehrs also noted that the defending champions from the Ruhr area are gradually pulling away from the competition.
Notably absent from the race was Olympic champion Laura Lindemann, who was present as a TV commentator instead.
The men's competition in the triathlon starts on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
