Testimony Time: Blake Lively Steps Up in Court Drama
Testimony under sworn affirmation in proceedings - Witness to swear an oath during the trial.
Get ready for some thrilling courtroom action! Actress Blake Lively (37) is set to testify under oath in the upcoming trial against her "It Ends with Us" co-star and director Justin Baldoni (41). Confirming the news, Lively's lawyer Mike Gottlieb revealed this to U.S. magazine "People".
"You betcha!" Gottlieb said, when asked if Lively would testify. "The big day is coming up, and we're expecting it to be the showdown. Of course, we believe she'll take the stand to tell her truth."
Witnesses Galore
But Lively won't be the only one making an appearance. According to Gottlieb, there will be other witnesses corroborating her account, including individuals who've seen or experienced misconduct on set. "We've got folks who've witnessed the madness and can back up Blake's stories," Gottlieb emphasized.
Spectators' attention was raised in late April when Lively spoke passionately at the Time100 Gala, revealing that her mother had survived an attack by a ex-colleague before Lively's birth. At the event, she hinted at the ongoing case, stating, "So much about the past two years of my life has been left unsaid."
Whether Lively's better half, Ryan Reynolds (48), will speak up is yet unclear. Reynolds is currently named in Baldoni's countersuit, but Lively's team is working diligently to have these claims thrown out. "We're confident these allegations are bunk," Gottlieb explained, adding, "Reynolds might or might not be on the stand."
Celestial Witnesses?
Recent news has suggested that Baldoni's team might subpoena celebrities like Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman. Gottlieb sees no need for this: "It's just plain confusing why these A-listers are tied to the case. This is about what Blake experienced when she made her claims of harassment on set. It's not a pop music extravaganza or a Marvel mystery."
Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman contested Gottlieb's statements, accusing Lively's team of trying to sidetrack the truth. "The facts of this case can't be camouflaged," Freedman stated, "The evidence, documents, and recordings [1][2][3] have shown the truth plain as day."
The Untold Story
The case originated from the filming of "It Ends with Us" in 2024, which hit theaters in August. After filming, Lively filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing in December, followed by a lawsuit accusing Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and several other individuals of sexual harassment and a smear campaign.
Baldoni denied the allegations and fired back with a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively, Reynolds, Lively's publicist Leslie Sloane, and their firm Vision PR of defamation and civil extortion - allegations Lively's lawyers describe as "bogus."
