Without a doubt, fans of the mega-popular quiz show "Who Knows What?" can rejoice: Despite Elton (53) shockingly slinking off, the show's legendary format stays intact. That's right, the bigwigs at ARD have assured us that the fabulous quiz show will carry on, and add to that, good ol' Bernhard Hoecker is sticking around.
Now, you might be wondering, why all the drama with Elton departing? Well, on a Tuesday back in the day, Elton himself broke the news of his departure. Seems like he wants to slow down the pace and snag more time with family, friends, and himself. He shared his thoughts in a cheeky statement, saying, "I ain't got time for that TV fame game anymore!"
The Show Must Go On
When the ARD spokesperson spouted the phrase "in its proven format," it's as if they had a magic wand, conjuring up a vision of no changes to the show's remarkable core concept. That's right folks, the quiz show, hosted by the charismatic Kai Pflaume (57), has been a knockout with audiences for yonks. The current season wraps up on April 22nd, airing Monday to Friday at 6 PM sharp. Can you believe it? Check out the impressive stats: on average, a whopping 3.3 million viewers are glued to their screens each day, accounting for an impressive 20% market share.
Our beloved Bernhard Hoecker (54) – Elton's longtime adversary on the show since its inception in 2015 – dons his cape and shield to continue the format. So far, no clear-cut successor has been announced, but the station promises to break the news to us when the time is right.
A Fond Farewell Awaits
Although Elton is hitting the bricks, fear not! You'll still catch his handsome mug until the end of the current season. We can expect a tear-jerking farewell special on a Saturday evening, April 26th, at 8:15 PM. Christine Strobl, ARD's program director, sang Elton's praises, stating, "Elton brought a whole lotta charm, wit, and heart to the show with his laid-back, genuine charm."
