Wisconsin Home Prices Dip Slightly in September, Sales Up 6.9%
Wisconsin's housing market saw a slight dip in median home prices in September 2025, but overall, sales and prices have been on the rise compared to last year. The median home price in Wisconsin decreased slightly to $337,000 in September 2025, down from $338,000 in August. Despite this minor decrease, prices have risen by 8.7% compared to September 2024. Year-to-date, median prices are up 5.2% and sales are up 2%. South central Wisconsin, including Madison and Dane County, has the highest median home price at $389,900. Meanwhile, southeast Wisconsin led the state in home sales, accounting for 34% of sales in September 2025. The Madison and Milwaukee areas have been driving both price increases and sales. Home sales in Wisconsin increased by 6.9% in September 2025 compared to the same month last year. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate also fell below 6.5% in September, which may contribute to the increase in sales. While there are more homes for sale, sales since January 2025 have been more sluggish compared to previous years.
