Maryland Terrapins Outshine Wisconsin Badgers in Week 2

The Maryland Terrapins secured a convincing 44-17 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers in their second game of the season on Saturday, September 13.

Maryland's quarterback, Taulia Tagovailoa, showcased his skills, throwing for 261 yards, completing 16 of 22 attempts (72.7%) with one touchdown and one interception. He also added three rushing attempts for 29 yards and one rushing touchdown.

The Terrapins' offensive prowess was not limited to Tagovailoa. Iverson Howard made an impact with 60 rushing yards on 15 carries, and one reception for two yards. Octavian Smith Jr. shone with four receptions for 103 yards, while Ballard scored a touchdown with one reception for 41 yards.

Unfortunately, the Badgers' starting quarterback, Billy Edwards Jr., who transferred from Maryland, was unable to play due to a knee sprain. His absence was felt as his replacement, Danny O'Neil, passed for 117 yards, completing 11 of 17 attempts (64.7%) with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Wisconsin's offensive struggles were further compounded by the uncertainty surrounding their centre, Jake Renfro. Renfro missed the game against Middle Tennessee due to a knee issue and injured his ankle against Alabama. His status for the Maryland game on Saturday remains uncertain.

Before his injury, Edwards led Maryland to a season-opening 17-0 victory over Miami (Ohio). However, it is uncertain if Edwards will be healthy enough to play against Maryland on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Terrapins, who had a record of 4-8 in the 2022-24 season, will be looking to build on their impressive start to the season. The Badgers, on the other hand, will aim to bounce back from their loss against Maryland and find their form before their next game.
