Wisconsin athlete Jake Renfro faces uncertainty with a week-to-week recovery due to a lower-body injury.

Wisconsin Badgers' starting center, Jake Renfro, sustained a knee injury during fall camp practice in Platteville, Wisconsin, on August 15, 2025. The injury occurred approximately 70 miles from the school's Madison campus[1].

Renfro was unable to put weight on the leg when injured and was carted off the field. However, no structural damage was found, and he was observed walking with a brace shortly after the injury[2][3]. As of mid-August 2025, Renfro is listed as "week-to-week."

Wisconsin officials have not ruled him out for the season opener against Miami (Ohio) on August 28, 2025, but his status remains uncertain[1][2][3]. The team is preparing contingency plans, including shifting right guard Kerry Kodanko to center in practice[1].

Renfro started all 12 games for Wisconsin last season, where he allowed only one sack[1]. Prior to joining the Badgers, Renfro was a starting center on the 2021 Cincinnati team that reached the College Football Playoff[4].

The Badgers are hopeful that Renfro will recover in time for their third game against Alabama, but they believe they can manage the early games without him if necessary[1].

Although Renfro's prognosis remains uncertain, the Wisconsin Badgers are preparing for potential contingencies, especially in American-football games, since he is listed as "week-to-week." Despite the injury, Renfro started all 12 games in the previous NFL season, showing impressive performance in sports, including football and NCAA-football.
