Wisconsin announces the comeback of the Kohl Center Volleyball Classic tournament
Wisconsin Volleyball Kicks off Season with Kohl Center Classic
The Wisconsin Badgers are set to host the Kohl Center Classic once again, this time featuring a highly anticipated rematch against the Florida Gators on September 21 at noon central time. The event, which will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network, marks the opening of Wisconsin's volleyball season.
The Kohl Center Classic has a history of attracting large crowds, setting NCAA indoor volleyball attendance records. Last year's match between Wisconsin and Florida drew 16,833 fans, while the 2024 event against Marquette saw 15,084 spectators.
This year's event promises to be no different, as the Badgers aim to sell out the Kohl Center. The Classic will also feature the Opening Spike Classic at the end of August, with Wisconsin facing Kansas and Texas.
In addition to the Kohl Center Classic, the Badgers will host a Red and White scrimmage at the Field House on August 16 at 1 p.m. This unofficial match is not expected to set or break any attendance records, but it offers fans a chance to see the team in action before the official season begins.
The exhibition game against Notre Dame is scheduled for August 17 at 1 p.m. Tickets for both the Red and White scrimmage and the exhibition game are not yet available.
The Kohl Center Classic, which was started by Wisconsin in 2022, has become a premier volleyball event, known for its fan-supported atmosphere, marquee matchups, and strong broadcast coverage. Tickets and additional event information will be available through Wisconsin Badgers’ official channels starting early August 2025.
In previous years, the Kohl Center Classic has featured closely contested games against Florida, including a 5-set loss in 2022 and a 2023 victory by Wisconsin when ranked No. 1 nationally.
With the return of the Kohl Center Classic, volleyball fans in Wisconsin and beyond can look forward to an exciting start to the season.
Despite the Wisconsin Volleyball team kicking off their season with the Kohl Center Classic, there seems to be a shift towards football as the Badgers are preparing for the Opening Spike Classic at the end of August, where they will face Kansas and Texas.
Regardless of the change in focus, the Kohl Center Classic, renowned for its fan-supported atmosphere and marquee matchups, remains a premier volleyball event, promising to attract large crowds and set attendance records.
