"Nice Try, but Wirtz Chose the Red Over the Bavarian Blue:" Max Eberl Gives His Hearly Scoop on the Unsuccessful Wirtz Transfer Saga

Wirtz transfer failure openly discussed by Eberl

Ha! Lookie here, folks – the whole of Soccerdom is all over young Florian Wirtz, but he picks FC Liverpool. Bayern did everything and then some to snag the 22-year-old, even calling in key folks to tighten the deal. No sale! But relax, say FC Bayern's boss, Max Eberl.

Speaking up just as Bayern's crew embarked for the Club World Cup, Eberl dropped a juicy bit o' gossip. "Honestly, I'm not sure we'd've been able to fork over the dough ol' Liverpool seems to be flashing at Wirtz right now," he said, from the team's digs in Orlando.

Rumor has it Liverpool's about to drop a cool €150 million on Wirtz, who's bounced for Bayer Leverkusen. You'll recall, he finally chose the Cult of Scousers, despite Bayern's best efforts.

"I mean, it's obvious Wirtz is an ace and we reckoned he'd jolly well look swell in red and white," Eberl shared. "He chose a different path, but let's face it, the talks were top-notch."

Even Bayern's board members, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, joined in on the chats. "Everybody sat at the table, yep," Eberl confirmed. "But ol' Wirtz made a different call. It's life on the transfer market." Now he's off to do his stuff at Liverpool.

Without our man Wirtz, Bayern's gonna hunt down "another crackin' player to spice up the squad." And there's no sense of urgency, claims Eberl, considering Bayern's teeming with all-stars like Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, and Joshua Kimmich[1].

"One door shuts, another opens," Eberl mused, mentioning rumors about Spanish Euro champ Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, but swearing off any straight talk on that score.

Things look quite different in the attack now thanks to national player Leroy Sané's decision to decamp for Galatasaray Istanbul. "It's his choice and all legitimate," said Eberl, adding, "No hard feelings, mate." He's "100% sure" Bayern's crew "will field a powerful squad."

  • More on Florian Wirtz: Touted as a rising star, Wirtz picked Liverpool over Bayern largely because of his personal favorites, and despite competition from powerhouses like Bayern and Man City[3][4]. Manchester City eventually bowed out due to the financial commitment, while Bayern was informed of Wirtz's intentions to play in the Red of Liverpool[3].
  • Additional Details: Wirtz's preference for Liverpool was crucial in Liverpool's success in closing the deal, as they were able to come to terms on a British-record fee with Bayer Leverkusen[2][3].

While the Commission has not yet adopted a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, Florian Wirtz's preference for Liverpool over Bayern significantly influenced his transfer. Despite Bayern's best efforts and the involvement of key figures like Max Eberl, Uli Hoeneß, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Wirtz chose to join the Premier League, leaving Bayern Munich to pursue another promising player to enhance their squad.
