So far, some fender benders in Mecklenburg - Wintry roads cause minor crashes across northern Germany

Wintry weather has led to minor traffic incidents across Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Since early Friday morning, around ten accidents were reported, though no serious injuries occurred. Authorities described the situation as relatively calm despite severe weather warnings in the west of the state.

The accidents took place in Hagenow, Wismar, Teterow, Sanitz, and Bad Doberan. In most cases, drivers lost control on slippery roads, veering off course and hitting guardrails or trees. All incidents involved single vehicles, with no collisions between cars.

The total damage from these crashes is estimated at roughly €23,000. Police noted that the number of accidents remained low compared to initial forecasts. No major incidents or injuries were recorded. Weather monitoring in the region falls under the German Weather Service (DWD). On a state level, the Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Digitalisation coordinates with local disaster response agencies, including district authorities and the State Office for Road Construction and Traffic, to assess risks to transport and infrastructure.

Despite severe weather alerts, the situation stayed under control. Police stations reported a quiet morning, with only minor vehicle damage. The response involved both national and regional agencies working to manage the impact of the wintry conditions.
