Get ready for some chilly, changeable weather this weekend in Thuringia, Germany! The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning, particularly for those residing in the higher elevations.

Brace yourself for winter conditions, as today will be partly cloudy with periods of rain, especially in areas above 400 to 600 meters. Snowfall is expected to last for extended periods in these regions, accumulating up to 5 centimeters, while the highest elevations in the Thuringian Forest may see up to 8 centimeters. Be cautious on the roads, as slippery conditions are likely.

As you tuck in for the night on Saturday, watch out for icy spots due to freezing rain, with temperatures dipping as low as -3 degrees Celsius. Saturday will be mostly cloudy but dry, but Sunday will see more sunlight before rain or snow moves in again overnight. Don't forget your blankets, as temperatures will drop to a frosty -4 degrees.

Despite the wintry weather, the ski season in the Thuringian Forest will come to an end this Sunday. However, two popular ski spots will stay open this weekend: the Snowpark Oberhof and the Skiarena Silbersattel, according to the Thuringian Forest Regional Association.
