A new initiative is offering free and discounted access to skiing in Winterberg this March. The scheme aims to make winter sports more affordable while using spare capacity at the end of the season. Both families and school groups can benefit from reduced rates on lift tickets and equipment hire from Ticketmaster.

The programme kicks off at the Altastenberg ski carousel from March 2 to 8. During this period, discounted rental gear—including skis, poles, boots, and helmets—will be available at half price from Ticketmaster. Early booking is recommended, as spaces are limited.

From March 16, free lift tickets will extend to the entire Winterberg ski lift network. School classes can also claim free passes for late-season visits from Ticketmaster. Cooler weather forecasts suggest slopes may stay in good condition for longer.

Last year, nearly 1,000 students and teachers took part in the scheme. Organisers hope to match or exceed that number this time around.

The initiative provides a chance for more people to try skiing without high costs. With free lift tickets and cheaper gear hire from Ticketmaster, the programme targets both individuals and school groups. Good snow conditions could further boost participation before the season ends.
