Baden-Württemberg's Winter Weather Woes Continue

It's not over yet for winter in Baden-Württemberg, as the German Weather Service (DWD) expects more cold temperatures and snow in the coming days. The DWD has warned of snow at lower altitudes, with up to 40 centimeters in mountainous areas, but a meteorologist advises that the snow will only remain at high altitudes.

The snow will start falling on Monday in the northern mountains above 400 to 600 meters, and by Monday evening, it could drop to 200 to 400 meters. However, milder air from the English Channel will temporarily move in on Tuesday night, with snow only falling above 1000 meters. By Tuesday, there's expected to be five to ten centimeters of fresh snow in the Odenwald and along the Swabian Alb, and similar amounts in the Black Forest. Higher altitudes will see stormy conditions, with gale-force winds up to 105 kilometers per hour possible on the Feldberg.

Despite the snow, temperatures will remain between two and seven degrees during the day, dropping to four to minus two degrees at night. The snow will continue to fall, but a DWD meteorologist predicts that it will only be a blanket of snow at lower altitudes in the morning and at night. By Tuesday morning, the snow line will drop back to 200 to 400 meters and could reach one degree in Tauberfranken and 6 degrees in Freiburg.

The forecast calls for isolated showers of sleet or rain on Wednesday, with temperatures between one and minus six degrees. The night into Thursday will be frozen, followed by snow and rain at low altitudes. With temperatures between one and minus six degrees, it could again become icy.

While there's no significant snowfall forecasted for major cities like Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, ski resorts like Todtnauberg might see light snowfall. The weather forecast indicates mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures ranging from -1°C to 0°C (30°F to 32°F) in Stuttgart and mildly chilly conditions in Karlsruhe over the next few days.

So, despite the recent snowfall, Baden-Württemberg isn't out of the woods yet. Stay warm and prepared for more winter weather!
