Winter Storms Halt Trains in Krasnodar, Stranding Hundreds for Hours

Severe winter weather has disrupted train services across Krasnodar Territory, leaving passengers stranded for hours. In response, local authorities distributed nearly 2,800 food kits to those affected by the delays.

Heavy snow and ice weighed down overhead wires, causing widespread power outages at railway stations and along major routes. The damage led to significant delays, with some trains held up for as little as 47 minutes and others for over 27 hours. Around 50 services were impacted in total.

Repair teams have been working to fix the damaged power lines. While restoration efforts continue, local administrations in Kavkazsky District and Armavir stepped in to support stranded travellers. The food kits contained essentials like bottled water, instant meals, cookies, sandwiches, and tea. Children also received small New Year’s gifts as part of the aid packages.

The delays have eased as crews restore power, but the disruption highlights the challenges posed by extreme winter conditions. Passengers received basic supplies to help manage the extended wait times during the holiday period.
