Winter Storms Force School Closures and Test Social Security Services

Severe winter weather has disrupted daily life across several regions, forcing temporary closures and transport issues. Authorities have taken steps to maintain essential services, though some facilities faced challenges due to extreme cold and snow.

Governor Veniamin Kondratyev led a meeting to address the impact of harsh weather on social facilities. He stressed the need to keep schools, kindergartens, and clinics warm and accessible despite freezing temperatures. Roads and pathways to these buildings were prioritised for snow clearance and ice treatment.

Across the region, 18 schools cancelled classes due to the conditions. Students received individual assignments to cover missed lessons, ensuring they stayed on track with the curriculum. School buses also failed to run in 51 schools, leaving many pupils unable to attend. Most social facilities, including those in Novorossiysk and Belorechensk District, continued operating without major issues. However, one kindergarten in Apsheronsk lost power and heating but is set to reopen once repairs are complete. Healthcare institutions remained unaffected, maintaining normal services throughout the cold snap.

The governor’s focus remains on protecting residents in social security facilities during extreme weather. While most services stayed operational, transport disruptions and power outages caused temporary setbacks. Repairs and safety measures are ongoing to restore full functionality where needed.
