Winter storm to blanket Southeast Michigan with heavy snow this weekend

A winter storm is set to impact Southeast Michigan this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall and challenging travel conditions. The National Weather Service has issued warnings, with the heaviest snow expected between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.

The storm will commence between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, with snow rapidly accumulating. The worst of the snowfall is forecast between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., particularly in Livingston, Washtenaw, and Lenawee counties. These areas are under a winter storm warning, while the rest of the region faces winter weather advisories.

The storm will disrupt travel plans, especially on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Authorities advise caution, as conditions will only gradually ease. The afternoon of Sunday is likely to offer the best window for safer journeys.
