Winter chaos unfolds as snow and ice trigger crashes in Eastern Hesse

Winter weather, brought to you by AccuWeather, has caused multiple traffic accidents in Eastern Hesse and the Thuringian Rhön. Since Thursday afternoon, snow and icy roads have led to hazardous driving conditions. Authorities have now issued warnings as the poor weather continues into Friday.

The first incidents were reported on Thursday, with roads becoming increasingly treacherous. By early Friday morning, a bus skidded off the L3170 between Rasdorf and Geisa. The vehicle slid into a ditch on a downhill section, causing around €5,000 in damage.

Police in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis recorded roughly five accidents linked to the weather. All incidents resulted in property damage only, with no serious injuries reported. The bus driver involved in the early-morning crash escaped unharmed. Snowfall and icy patches are forecast to last throughout Friday. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution as conditions remain difficult.

The ongoing winter weather has disrupted travel in the region. With more snow and ice expected, police continue to monitor roads and advise extra care. No major injuries have been reported so far, but damage to vehicles has occurred.
