Last night's Stanley Cup Playoffs was nothing short of electrifying, with the Winnipeg Jets squeezing past the St. Louis Blues in an epic Game 7 battle.

The game stretched into double overtime, leaving the outcome hanging by a thread. The Jets emptied their crease, frantically trying to evade defeat as the seconds ticked away.

Just as the Blues seemed ready to snatch the road victory, they got a lucky break. A wayward puck found its way to Nikolaj Ehlers at the blue line, who sent a rocket toward the net but missed the one-timer. But fate had a twist in store, as the puck bounced right back to him. This time, Ehlers swung it to Neal Pionk on the right wing, setting up a brilliant tip-in by Cole Perfetti as the clock hit the final 1.6 seconds. The crowd erupted, and the Jets headed into overtime with a thin lead.

Had they not managed to seal the deal in overtime, Perfetti's heroics would have meant squat.

In the shadow of Perfetti's clutch finish, the clock ticked down in the overtime periods. Both teams saw their chances to notch the winning goal come and go. It was their captain, Adam Lowry, who ultimately emerged the hero, scoring the game-winner with 3:50 left in double overtime.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars were busy eliminating the Colorado Avalanche in another single-elimination match yesterday. Mikko Rantanen tried to pull off a miracle for his former team, scoring a hat-trick, but it wasn't enough to keep the Avalanche alive[1].

With that victory, the Stars have earned a place in the second round, where they'll meet the Jets in a best-of-seven showdown to determine who moves on to the Western Conference Final.

Early in the game, Perfetti opened the scoring for the Jets after a power-play opportunity, which was the Jets' first goal of the night after falling behind 2-0 in the first. Two players from the Blues, Jordan Kyrou and Mathieu Joseph, found the back of the net during the first period.

Radek Faksa scored St. Louis' second goal with just 35 seconds left in the second period, dampening the home crowd's spirits heading into the third. But Vladislav Namestnikov scored with less than two minutes left in the third, giving the Jets a glimmer of hope before Perfetti's dramatic save of the season.

Jordan Binnington made an impressive 43 saves across nearly five full periods of work, while Connor Hellebuyck put up an equally commendable 26 saves for the Jets.
