Winnipeg Blue Bombers rule out quarterback Zach Collaros for the game against Toronto Argonauts
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without their starting quarterback, Zach Collaros, when they host the Toronto Argonauts at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, August 1. Collaros has been ruled out due to a neck injury and has been placed on the one-game injured list.
In his absence, Chris Streveler is expected to take over as the starting quarterback. Streveler has already led the offense in previous games when Collaros was injured, including the season-opener against the B.C. Lions, where he led the team to a 34-20 win. Streveler has thrown for 558 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions this season.
Nick Arbuckle, who had a stellar performance against the Blue Bombers in their last meeting, is expected to pose a significant challenge for Streveler. Arbuckle carved up Winnipeg's secondary for 316 yards and two touchdowns in that game.
The Blue Bombers will also be without running back Peyton Logan (thigh), receiver Kody Case (ankle), offensive lineman Stanley Bryant (ankle), and defensive lineman Jamal Woods (knee). Offensive lineman Micah Vanterpool (ankle) and long snapper Mike Benson (hip) are questionable for the game.
The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 29 degrees and sunny conditions, which should provide ideal playing conditions for both teams.
Fans in Toronto can tune in on TSN 1050, while those in Winnipeg can listen to the game on 680 CJOB. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. The kickoff for the game is slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT.
Head coach Mike O'Shea indicated on Wednesday that he doesn't expect Collaros to be out long-term. However, he declined to provide an update after the last game.
Collaros has posted a 2-3 record as the starting quarterback this season, throwing for 1,031 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions over five starts. He threw for 79 yards and two interceptions in the first half of the last game against the Argonauts before leaving due to injury and not returning after halftime. Collaros has also left a recent game against the Calgary Stampeders due to a neck issue.
The Blue Bombers currently sit at 3-3, while the Argonauts are struggling with a 2-5 record. This game could be a crucial one for both teams as they look to secure a playoff spot.

In the upcoming NFL-style American football game between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts, Chris Streveler is expected to replace Zach Collaros as the starting quarterback. This will be a significant challenge for Streveler, as Nick Arbuckle, who performed exceptionally well against the Blue Bombers in their last encounter, is expected to lead Toronto's offense. Meanwhile, both teams will be tested by the absence of key players due to injuries, as the Blue Bombers will be missing running back Peyton Logan, receiver Kody Case, offensive lineman Stanley Bryant, and defensive lineman Jamal Woods, among others.
