Wings of the Soviets Win Penalty Shootout After 3:3 Draw Against Sochi

In a thrilling encounter, 'Wings of the Soviets' and 'Sochi' played out a 3:3 draw in the 2025/2026 Russian Premier League Cup, Group B. The home team ultimately emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 5:4.

The match started with 'Sochi' taking an early lead through Mikhail Ignatov's goal in the 35th minute. However, 'Wings of the Soviets' fought back, with Nikita Chernov putting them ahead in the 83rd minute. The game seemed to be heading towards a 'Wings' victory, but Anton Zinkevsky equalized for 'Sochi' in the 87th minute, ensuring a dramatic finish.

The first half also saw an own goal from Nabyl Aberden for 'Sochi' in the 45th minute, which initially put 'Wings' in a strong position. Martin Kramaric scored a penalty for 'Sochi' in the 70th minute, contributing to the final score. Roman Yevgenyev equalized for 'Wings of the Soviets' five minutes after Chernov's goal, setting the stage for the penalty shootout.

'Wings of the Soviets' remain in second place with eight points, while 'Sochi' is in fourth place with two points. Despite the draw, 'Wings' have maintained their strong position in the group, while 'Sochi' will be looking to improve their form in upcoming matches. FC Krasnodar continues to lead the table.
